West Bengal, notorious for safety of women on road, is going to have only women-led chauffeurs from February next. It is a good news for women workers, frequent fliers, and others, especially to those who work in IT industry, fashion industry, and film industry. Women are taken to wrong way, they are misbehaved by the cab drivers, sometimes they are charged double and also harass by taxi drivers. This is going to be end by the noble initiative of The Azad Foundation, who have already trained more than 500 women in states like Jaipur, Delhi and Indore. They are starting from next month in this state. Girls and women aged between 20-35 have given extensively training in first-aid, basic English, gender sensitization and Wenlido, a self-defense module popular in many parts of the world. This will pave the way for women's physical as well as economic empowerment
This step of Azad Foundation should be encouraged by the Government of West Bengal and make it happen widely by giving such kind of training to girls and women for women commuters. Government's assistance and similar initiative will help reducing violence against women in the state.
A step forward for women's physical, educational and economic empowerment.
